Instant Replay: winning debut over fences

We were delighted with both performances at Sedgefield yesterday, in what were testing conditions, and it was good to be back among the winners with three victories in two days. Let’s hope it can continue!

INSTANT REPLAY made a winning debut over fences taking the 2m3½f Novices' Handicap Chase sponsored by Brian Ellison Racing. Once he got over the first two fences his jumping was awesome and, a big horse with a long stride, it wasn’t long before Henry (Brooke) let him bowl along in front. Enjoying being at the head of the field he travelled and jumped well for the remainder of the race, staying on gamely when challenged up the run in. He won a shade more cosily than the one and a half length margin may suggest. A very pleasing performance following some disappointing runs over Hurdles, which are hopefully well and truly behind him now.

Windsor Avenue: impressive winning debut

WINDSOR AVENUE made an impressive winning debut for us taking the closing 2m1f bumper by nine lengths. Partnered by Brian Hughes, he travelled really well through out, tracking the leader on the inside, before taking it up over two furlongs from home. He soon put some distance between himself and the rest of the field, and just kept up to his work by Brian inside the final furlong, he came home the last 100 yards in his own time.

A half brother to Ravenhill Road, he was purchased by Phil Martin out of the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham December Sale. A completely different type to Ravenhill, he is a lovely-looking horse, has been quick to settle in and has been working extremely well at home.

Delighted by the performance and for owners Phil and Julie Martin, especially following a somewhat disappointing run by Ravenhill Road earlier this week. Nothing has come to light and Brian is putting it down to the ground.
