Definitly Red works well under regular rider Andy Robertson

Definitly Red: looks a picture & on target for the Gold Cup

Definitly Red, together with stable mates, The King Of May, Nietzsche and Always Resolute, made the short journey to neighbouring trainer Richard Fahey’s Musley Bank Stables yesterday to work a mile on their all weather gallop.

Regular rider, Andy Robertson, partnered Red and was all smiles pulling up at the end of the gallop reporting him to be bouncing, feeling great and in really good form. He couldn’t be happier with him and that’s just what everyone wanted to hear because no one knows him better than Andy!

Talking to James Burn for the Racing Post on the way to Newcastle yesterday Brian said: "We just wanted to get him away somewhere different. He worked a mile and went really well. Andy, who rides him every day, was on board and he was very happy.

"We had heart monitors on him and they were very good and we scoped him after to make sure he was all right and he was very clean, so everything is perfect at the moment.

"He'll have another workout at home next week, but he's spot on. I couldn't have him any better; he's in great form."

"The snow melting on the track at Cheltenham and leaving it on the easy side is exactly what we want to see and hear and I think there's some rain forecast too.

"He's effective on good-to-soft ground as well, but he just doesn't want that holding, tacky ground. I don't think any horse wants gluey ground and there's a massive distinction between that and soft/heavy ground."

"I don't worry about the opposition. The only worry I have is to get Definitly Red there and in one piece and if he's good enough, he's good enough and if he's not, he's not. He's definitely good enough to be in it though and he's not far off the top-rated in the race.

"It'd be great if he's there or thereabouts, but as long as he runs his race he should run a big race. There are no negatives at the moment. As long as he remains in good fettle from now until then."
